Morning: Breakfast and departure time for San
Ginesio. Guided tour of San Ginesio (680metres
above sea level). The view afforded by this burgh perched on a hill
is gorgeous. The town's layout is of medieval origin, enclosed in broad
ring of crenelated defensive walls (14th century). The Collegiate
Church in the central square of San Ginesio, is a Romanesque
construction with a late Gothic facade of Germanic taste. The Museo
Civico "Scipione Gentili" houses numerous painting
dating from 15th to 18th century. Free time for refreshment.
Afternoon: Guided tour of Sarnano (539
metres above sea level). It's a renowned spa town, a very popular winter
ski resort and a starting point for climbs up the Sibillini moutanins.
The medieval burgh with its steep narrow streets culminates in the "upper
piazza", where the church of S.Maria Assunta was
erected in the second half of the 13th century. Installed in the neighboring
former Franciscan convent founded in the 13th century in the Pinacoteca
Civica, which vaunts a worthy collection of art works, including
an altarpiece by Vittore Crivelli, and the Hammer Museum. Return
ti the Hotel, dinner and accommodation.
